Larry Ferlazzo does a great job of listing and rating educational websites.  This post is about his number one pick of Math & Science sites for 2008.

skool’s tagline is “Learning and Teaching Technology”, and the focus is on maths and science for students aged 12 to 16 (Key Stages 3 & 4 in the UK).  This is another exceptional site in terms of quality, organization, and accessibility for learners with a range of learning styles.

Maths and science concepts are presented with sets of flash animations.  Concepts are explained with text captions that can be read aloud.  The explanations are followed by “Test” and “Review” sections.  Unfortunately, the text in these two sections cannot be read aloud. The screenshot below shows the format used by Skoool.

The Skoool website offers a range of other online material for learners and teachers.  In addition to these online resources, Skoool offers three downloadable “Toolkits”.   These are the “Mathematical Toolkit”, the  “Number Line Tool” and the “Physics Toolkit”.  Altogether a site worth exploring and knowing about.

  1. another great resource. Are the Brits better assemblers of these kind of shared resources than we are in North America? It just seems as if they’ve learned faster…
