Free Resources from the Net for EVERY Learner

The internet is a truly marvelous realm to explore!  On a recent evening, I found myself watching a movie entitled Railway Children, about India’s more than 3 million “lost, orphaned, abandoned, or runaway” children.  It is the remarkable story about the efforts of one man and his wife that have provided a  safe home and a  nurturing community where some of these children can grow up.  This is one of many high quality educational movies that are available from a website in the UK.

teachers.tv is a repository of educational movies and tv shows.  The videos are well organized under  an extremely wide range of helpful category headings, and they are easily searchable.  All learning levels are targeted, including material intended for professional development by educators.  The movies I sampled were all of exceptional quality, and ranged in length from a few minutes to well over an hour.

Terms of use are somewhat restrictive for people outside the UK.  Some movies cannot be streamed or downloaded.  Many of the movies, however, can be streamed readily.  So, this is a source that educators and learners at all levels would do well to explore.  If you register, you can bookmark movies.  There are also a variety of ways that you can participate in the teachers.tv community.
