ScreenToaster (Online Application)
November 16, 2008 by Paul Hamilton
Do you ever need to show someone how to do something on a computer? Here’s a completely free tool that enables you make a video that offers step-by-step audio-visual instructions. It could hardly be easier to make these screencasts or to share them.
ScreenToaster is an online application that enables you to create screencasts, or videos, of whatever is on your computer screen. It’s hard to imagine being able to do this more easily than you can with ScreenToaster. After you’ve recorded whatever you wish to show on your screen, you can add voice narration and/or text captions. Once you’ve created your screencast, it can be shared with a link or embedded elsewhere on the Internet with the available embed code.
When I tested it, everything worked flawlessly. I should add, however, that ScreenToaster is still in beta; and you have to request an invitation before you can register to use it. An invitation was forthcoming very quickly by email when I requested it via a convenient form on the website.
I’ve embedded ScreenToaster’s own Demo video here, which has been made with ScreenToaster. For another screencast that shows how to use ScreenToaster, you can check one out at DemoGirl.com
