Multimedia Math Glossary (Online Resource)
November 14, 2008 by Paul Hamilton
I continue to be impressed by what is available online from Harcourt School Publishers. I’m especially impressed by the accessibility of what is offered. Recently, I wrote here about Science Up Close. Now I want to share a helpful basic math resource. It isn’t quite as accessible as the science activities, but it’s still pretty good.
Multimedia Math Glossary is intended to support the remedial California Fast Forward Math program, but it is valuable resource on its own. This is an interactive glossary of elementary math terms that have been organized into six levels, or “volumes”. Terms are defined and illustrated. Each definition may be read aloud in a clear human voice simply by clicking on an audio icon. When a definition contains another mathematical term, it is linked to the definition of that term. An example from Volume 3 is pictured below.

Terms are listed in alphabetical order, but a convenient search function is also available.
