I find it impossible to keep up with all the online presentation tools that are now available. I’ve recently become aware of another one that stands out for me. This one doubles nicely as a tool to facilitate online collaboration in real time.
Dabbleboard‘s developers describe their (free) product as an “online digital whiteboard”. It is that and considerably more, offering a powerful and practical feature-set with a very straightforward user interface. I believe Dabbleboard could be invaluable with an interactive whiteboard, or when using a computer and projector to present information.
When drawing on Dabbleboard’s canvas, it can automatically recognize the shape you are drawing and clean it up for you. For example, your rectangles are nicely squared and your lines straightened. This a tremendous gift for a teacher like me who has difficulty creating “presentable” drawings or diagrams on paper or on a chalkboard. You can, of course, turn this feature off to create freehand shapes or drawings. It is extremely easy to add text to any drawing or diagram by simply typing it in.
Another great feature of Dabbleboard is that your drawings can be saved in a “library” for later use. You can also incorporate other peoples’ work by adding that to your library. It’s a snap to save, share and embed your work. Finally, Dabbleboard makes it easy to collaborate with others on your whiteboard in real time.
You can either go directly to Dabbleboard to take a closer look, or watch their introductory video that I’ve embedded below.
