“100 Helpful Web Tools for Every Kind of Learner”
June 14, 2008 by Paul Hamilton
This morning I feel like running to the very top of the world and shouting ‘Eureka’. For any educator who cares about supporting the diverse learning needs of ALL learners, I have found something very special indeed!
100 Helpful Web Tools for Every Kind of Learner is a post by Christina Laun on the College@Home blog. It isn’t just the tools that are included on the list, but the helpful way in which these resources have been organized that has caught my eye.
Christina has organized her list of 100 tools by “learning style”, with helpful sub-headings under each, as I’ve shown below. Please take time to check out the tools that have been cataloged under these headings.
Visual Learners
- Mind Mapping
- Charting and Diagrams
- Videos and Photos
Auditory Learners
- Podcasts
- Presentation Tools
- Audio Tools
- Text Readers
- Audio Books
Kinesthetic Learners
- Note Taking Tools
- Bookmarking
- Ineraction
- Collaboration

This is a great collection of resources. I love helping students identify their learning styles and have found it extremely helpful in my own learning. One of my favourite sites for helping students recognise their style is VARK, http://www.vark-learn.com/english/index.asp. The VARK system does recognise an additional style to the Visual, Auditory, Kinesthetic, and that is Read/Write. This recognises those learners who prefer to read the material, make notes, summaries, lists, points etc.
